DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.20883/pielpol.2019.55 The incidence of hypertension is largely related to the development of civilization and exposure to various stress stimuli. Cyclical repeated both acute and long-lasting stress may result in the occurrence or progression of hypertension in people with a reduced threshold of resistance to this stimulus. In the general population, we can distinguish a group of people who over-activate an intense sympathetic response to a stressful stimulus. This group of people has a predisposition to the development of cardiovascular diseases, including hypertension. As prevention of excessive increases in blood pressure, which are a response to psychophysical stress, various pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods are used [1-4].
Key words: hypertension, psychophysical stress, neuroendocrine stress response, stress prevention.
